 As young children of God there are things that we do not understand, things that leave us confused and yearning for answers. As time passes by, many of those questions do not receive answered. One day we realize that the once long list of questions has now doubled; with this our need-to-know goes into high gear. We look for answers, look to understand, look to know the whys and the hows of life. We hope to find peace and rest in the knowledge gained through the answers. However, will that knowledge really give us peace? Would the "what if" that goes through our minds really be answered? If someone were to tell us, when and how to do things? If they were to tell us where and how we will find love? Or maybe why things happen to us the way they do? Would that be enough?
If we were to be given a map that tells us where to go and directions on how to get there in order to reach happiness will we listen? Would we follow it? The answer is no, we would start looking for short cuts to lead us to each the end faster; only to find that those short cuts have gotten us lost.
Our humanity leads us to be curious, that curiosity leads us to ask questions and seek answers; but we are also spirit and that spirit calls us to be greater than our curiosity. We all desire to be great at everything we choose to do, we all desire long and happy lives because we are programmed that way. The spirit that dwells in us calls us to a higher power to a higher level of happiness than what can be provided by temporary emotions and items. It makes us naturally attracted to happiness, love, understanding, knowledge, peace, to wisdom because we have been promised all this and much more. The question is where are we looking?
We have been told that we will live an eternal life of happiness;"For surely I know the plans I have for you,says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not your harm, to give you a future with hope." Jer. 29:11, but are we listening? We have been given the "when" and the "how"; "Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me , you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile." Jer. 4:13 but where are we searching?
We have been given the map "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." Luke 11: 28 are we following it?
MJ ministry has created this weekly message board to help today's youth continue to follow the plan God has set forth for us. Even if we have taken a "short cut" or have tried to write our own plan, we pray that these messages help you and us return to God's path.
